Studies with large cohort of patients
are available
From 1995
to 1999, 559 prostate cancer patients were included in
a European multi-centric
study (1). Most of the patients (n=402) were T1-T2 prostate
cancer patients treated with Ablatherm-HIFU as first choice
therapy. In
this
T1-T2 population, negative biopsies were observed in 87.2%
of the patients. At least 50% of the patients presented
a
nadir PSA at 0.1 or less after a complete treatment.
A special highlight on the biopsy results according to the disease
related initial risk level shows that 92,1 % of the low risk patients
(cancer involving less than half a lobe, PSA <10ng/ml and Gleason
sum lower or equal to 6) presented negative biopsies during their
overall follow-up (up to 51 months).
